BIOGRAPHIE I first got into mixing at the age of 10 at my grandmother's kitchen, fiddling with a double cassette deck and trying to mix together BLACK BOX and YELLO. From that age I guess I've always been into "electronic music", but gradually becoming more appreciative of the roots of house; soul, disco and funk. Today, I mainly listen to deep and soulful house, but really anything goes as long as it's music with soul - no matter what genre!
This mix features some of my favorite deep house tunes from now and back to 2000. What you will always find with my track selections is an underlying groove and touch of soul/funk.

BIOGRAPHIE Veteran Italian DJ Steeve Mask has honed his production skills as one half of The Bulletz who have recorded and remixed for the heavy duty likes of Transport Recordings, Jay-J's Shifted Music, and Conya. Recently, he co-founded the new Fresh Cream Recordings label whose debut single is Steeve's own "Sweet Romance," out on February 8. This fantastic single finds Steeve Mask collaborating with the impressive Parisian singer Adama on a mid-tempo dancefloor groover equally comfortable on club speakers or radio broadcasts. Its eighties-style bass riff, superb vocal hook, and nu-disco synth bounce is certain to grab the attention of even the most jaded dance music fans. As a DJ, Steeve Mask carries this vibe on to his sets which show the confidence of someone spinning records for over a decade, with dabs of nu-disco, funk, and soulful house spicing up an already high charged house music selection.

BIOGRAPHIE Hailing from New Delhi, Hamza has attained a reputation as a pioneer of the house scene in India and one of the more innovative and exciting up-and-coming producers today. Hamza's diverse international sound is influenced from his strong musical background as well as growing up in India and traveling the world, living in Paris, Boston, and New York. Exposure to renowned house DJs such as Terry Francis, Dave Mothersole, DJ Heather, and Danny Teneglia inspired Hamza to create his own electronic dance productions. Soon he found a unique style of house music combining deep, tribal, and funky sounds with strong world music influences.
Hamza has established himself as one to keep a close eye on in the house music scene. With his impressive list of past and upcoming projects as well as fiery worldwide DJ performances Hamza is quickly becoming an important and influential talent in his own right. Through Wind Horse Records and his inventive east-west fusions Hamza is working to bring the world closer to his listeners, one beat at a time.

BIOGRAPHIE Rocked by the electronic music for more than a decade, Arobase crossed at first Europe in search of new electronic discoveries, sound discoveries, visual discoveries, and above all human discoveries. In 2004 he came to the decks, by passion for records, by pure pleasure to mix sounds, and to dig even more this vast universe which is electronic music. Same year he joined Team of the biffest French portal dedicated to electronic music: clubxtrem.net 2009 marked a double bend for Arobase. First of all from a collective point of view with the creation of the Association called "M2S" together with a group of friends, the organization of parties called “Minimal, Maximal: Scheissegal !”, and the beginnings of more massive projects for the year which follows. On a personal plan he played in more and more clubs and parties and begins to be known. At the end of 2009 he is the prize-winner of the Contest Nitebeat France 2010, and has the enjoyment to bring his sound for the first time in the mythical German club called "Universal DOG" with highly rated artists like Sven Väth, Magda, Gaiser, Oliver Koletzki, etc… His sharp, eclectic and festive sets begin to make noise and year 2010 will mark his surge so personal as collective with many dates in the region Alsace, whether it is in the highly-rated of the other regional DJ and also dates with artists more important such as Christopher Kah, Jonathann Cast, Marboss, etc… 2011 begins on hubcaps also, many "regional" requests, but also dates with more important artists like Spektre, David Carretta, Nomenklatur, etc… He assures during a time a residence for "Pop Eleganz" parties (well known private party organizer). He becomes also resident of "Flamme & Co", a highly trendy restaurant of Strasbourg. He is also the prize-winner of the Contest "Music Electronic Life" allowing him to play with Jona and Nutown Project, and he begins to be well-known in the rest of France.

It’s funny but people tend to be a bit down on Belgium, full of boring bureaucrats but here’s one good reason to get excited about Belgium, Spirit Catcher. Jean Vanesse & Thomas Sohet have become one of Europe’s most exciting production partnerships & live acts since they began 9 years ago. In that time they’ve clocked up the impressive list of labels that they’ve worked for (2020 Vision, Systematic, Freerange, SAW, Crosstown Rebels, K7, NRK, Rebirth, om…).
Their excellent debut artist album "Night Vision" released on 2020 Vision is testament to this status, becoming album of the issue in many leading dance magazine around the world. Both have a diversity of experience to bring to the table and a wide variety of influences. Both cite Kings of Jazz, Herbie Hancock & Quincy Jones through to classic 80s boogie sounds of Zapp, Prince & Chic/Nile Rogers and on to the sounds of Detroit techno pioneers such as Juan Atkins & Derrick May as major forces in their own productions.

"I started DJ'ing back in 1997 at venues across London, notably Bar Vinyl in Camden, SOS, 93 Ft East, Solo & The Project in Soho Square. Influenced by labels such as Paper Records, Seasons, Ovum, Low Pressings & Drop, the club which had the greatest influence over me was Plastic People, then based under Oxford St, where every Friday night Kenny Hawkes (Girls fm & Space) and DJ Harri (Sub Club, Glasgow) would play to a lucky few crammed into a tiny basement in what was London's most consistent and respected deep house night. Occasionally guests such as Derrick Carter, Kevin Yost & Pete Heller would drop in but the key to the success of Fridays R' Firin' was the solid residence. Saturdays were usually spent trawling the records shops of Berwick Street in London's Soho for some of the tracks we'd spotted the night before, shops like Vinyl Junkies & Reckless Records.
For my second 2 hr set for The Deep House Cat I've pulled the best of what's currently doing it for me as well as including 2 stone cold classics at the end.
I'd like to dedicate this set to Kenny Hawkes, who sadly passed away in June this year. RIP Kenny.
